About Us
We strive to be a premium breeder of quality
puppies. We feed only top quality food to our breeders
and puppies. Adults are fed " Exceed brand Lamb
and Rice" (Sam's club generic equivalent of Eukabana).
Our lactating moms and puppies are fed "Iam's
puppy" supplemented with extra calcium, minerals,
vitamins, and medications to ensure both a healthy mom and
puppy. See our Kennel and Veterinary pages for more
information.
We are a small "mom and pop"
operation and are not trying to mass produce puppies.
Parents are carefully selected to try and achieve the best
puppy with the best qualities representing the breed.
Our kennel is large and spacious with inside climate control
and access to the outside. We are USDA certified, AKC
certified, and gold award approved. We do not try to
get by with minimum requirements, but use a personal
standard of at least 10 times the legal standards for space,
cleanliness, pest control, comfort, and medical.
While many brag and boast that they are not
going to be certified, they may very well be saying, "
they don't want to be bound by any rules, regulations, or
quality". While many are quite respectable,
most of the proverbial " puppy mills" fall in this
category. Trying to maximize profits at the expense of
minimal animal care. Many hobby breeders (home
breeders) can boast of giving lots of love, but do they
actually have the knowledge and desire to produce a quality,
healthy puppy? Do they provide the proper medications,
worming, veterinary care, nutrition, generic traits needed
and wanted? Or are they just interested in making a
few bucks under the disguise of producing only a few pups?
Please make an intelligent choice and select
your puppy with everything considered. Do not just buy
a puppy because he is cute. Make sure your family is compatible
with your new puppy. Some dogs shed, which can be a
problem if you have asthma, allergies, or a clean house
freak, some chew, snort, wheeze. Check "Our
DOGS" for breed traits.
What it means when we
say:
USDA
Certified: We have a state license to sell
puppies. Any breeder that has more than three bitches are
required by law to be state certified, the only exception to
this are breeders that sell exclusively to end users.
While many brag they do not want to be licensed, they may be
saying that they don't want to be bound by any rules or laws
that govern their treatment of animals. To be USDA certified
you are required to meet a government set minimum standards.
Written records and proof are required. Some of the
requirements are:
-
Length, Height, Width of space per
animal.
-
Regular Veterinary inspections of the
Kennel.
-
Regular inspections by USDA
inspectors.
-
Surprise inspections by USDA inspectors
-
Separation of animals by breed, sex, compatibility.
-
Pest and Vermin control in place.
-
Water proofing of all materials to avoid
any bacteria or contamination
-
No standing water.
-
Dry bedding
-
Shade and or climate control for certain
breeds..
-
Regular cleaning of all eating utensils
with soap and hot water.
-
Regular cleaning with daily spot
cleaning of all fecal materials, using disinfectants,
soap, and hot steam or water. All fecal materials must
be removed from immediate Kennel area.
-
Isolation area for any sick animal away
from others.
-
Regular vaccination schedule for all
animals.
-
Ventilation for removal of ammonia, and
odors.
-
Nutritional food and fresh clean water
at least twice a day.
-
Heat and Cooling between 55 and 85
degrees for certain breeds.
Wouldn't you really consider these to be a
good thing? To at least have a minimum set of standards,
howbeit some may consider these inadequate in some areas?

AKC
Certified: There are several breed
registries now available. AKC (American Kennel Club), CKC
(Canadian Kennel Club), APR (All Pets Registry), WKC (World
Kennel Club), UPR (Universal Pet Registry) and several
others. While most assure you that you are getting a
pedigreed dog, do they carry the standard to actually prove
it? While most of the pet registries will let you
register any AKC dog with them into their registry, the
opposite is not true, you can not get an AKC pedigree for a
dog registered in any of the others. Many
complain that AKC is to slow to respond to getting litters
registered as their excuse to use other registries, some say
it is cheaper to use the others, still others don't like
their standards, which is exactly why we do like them.
You have a much better chance of guaranteeing that what you
paid for is what you get. Some breeders will just put all
their dogs together, who knows which one is actually the
sire, who cares as long its breed specific right? or at
least looks like it is. Most of
our dogs are AKC to ensure the finest quality and standard.
We do offer other registries due to economic reasons for our
customers.
Requirements of AKC not in
other registries:
-
Any male dog that has
sired more that three litters must be DNA tested..
DNA testing assures you that the sire is indeed the
father of that litter and can be proven.
-
AKC makes surprise inspections
and regular inspections to assure their guidelines are
being followed and includes taking random DNA tests of
parent and offspring to assure breeding compliance.
-
Any AKC dog can be
crossed into most of the other registries and double
registered if you so desire.
-
Only AKC dogs can be
shipped overseas for show.
-
AKC commands the largest
group and respect of its buyers.
-
AKC has online
registration of litters.
-
Most people are familiar
with the AKC name, more than the others.
-
AKC inspectors ensure
that USDA standards and their standards are followed.
-
AKC inspectors make sure
that the dogs represent a true presentation of their
breed.
-
AKC generally commands a
higher price for puppies and are easier to sell.
